New Babylon 1871 was inspired by the 1927 Kozintzev/Trauberg film this work recreated the events of the Paris Commune of 1871.
Directed by Gary Merry, this staging at The Round Chapel on the 15th, 16th, and 17th of March 2002, featured a cast of 68, including puppeteers and musicians. The production filled this vast space with the story of a young shop worker as her life intertwined with these momentous events.
The piece was written by Penelope Dimond of the company, with original music by Martina Schwarz.
