A Journey Together was first staged as a ‘socially distanced’ production at the Torriano Meeting House in September 2020. It featured Vladimir Illyich Ulyanov and Nadezhda Konstsntinovna Krupska talking about their lives together on their journey towards the Russian revolution. At 50 minutes long, the show was repeated continuously from 1pm to 6pm on Saturday the 19th, and again on Sunday the 20th of September.
Entry was of course free, but to comply with government guidelines and keep people safe only 3 audience members were allowed into the venue at any one time, and people were asked to wear masks. It was not possible to book tickets for the event, and entry was on a first come first served basis, with a strict queuing system in place.
The play was subsequently re-staged without restrictions at the Torriano Meeting House on the evenings of the 20th & 21st of August 2021, and again on the afternoon of Sunday the 16th of July 2023 with the same cast.
The play was written and directed by Gary Merry, with research by Penelope Dimond.
